Posner Career Center Expands Training Opportunities The Tina Posner Center for Career Excellence serves Wayside House alumni and clients. If you are a Wayside House alumnus or are already a client of our Posner Career Center, we are excited to be able to offer you additional training opportunities provided by a variety of community professionals. Ongoing trainings include topics such as: budgeting, QuickBooks, customer service, behavioral health technician certification courses, and resume writing assistance. Below are two of the courses: Interview Skills This workshop helps the participant build her knowledge, skills and confidence to increase the chances of a successful interview. Conducted by a hiring manager and a human resources professional, this workshop gives the participant an understanding of what an interview is, the different types of interviews and what to do before, during and after an interview. Discussions are held on how to answer different types of interview questions. The job application process is also reviewed and participants complete a sample application. The workshop culminates in a practice interview, in which the participant receives actionable feedback. The workshop is highly interactive and allows time to address specific participant concerns. Three sessions of two-hour-per-week. Customer Service Tina L. Pugliese Taught by Tina L. Pugliese, APR, Executive Coach and Counselor for Pugliese Public Relations from Pugliese Public Relations. Participants learn the essential skills necessary to deliver excellent customer service through real world exercises and group activities. The workshop teaches service representatives critical skills in the areas of professionalism, communication, managing the call, and managing the customer. The workshop includes practice exercises and role plays and focuses on building a new commitment to an organization’s mission of maintaining happy clients. Quickbooks Jacqueline Becerra Taught by Jacqueline Becerra, Bookeeper at Wayside House. Jacqueline has twenty years of experience working with QuickBooks and has taught QuickBooks to numerous clients in the profit and non- profit arena. In the Introduction to QuickBooks class participants will learn to manage the financial aspects of a small business quickly and efficiently using QuickBooks. QuickBooks is designed especially for the small- to midsized-businesses who need a fully functional accounting system that’s also easy to use. The class gives you hands-on experience as you master the tools you need set up a chart of accounts; reconcile your checking account; create and print invoices, receipts, and statements; track your payables, inventory, and receivables; create estimates; and generate reports. Whether you’re new to QuickBooks or have already used earlier versions of this accounting software program, this course will empower you to take control of the financial accounting for your business.
