The Wayside House substance abuse treatment program for women is a 28-bed residential treatment center that serves women ages 18 years and older. In addition to our residential program, we offer an intensive outpatient program, outpatient program and aftercare for clients. Our program for drug addiction includes a variety of therapies in a serene and therapeutic setting.
This is the first step in getting treatment at Wayside House. Our treatment center holds a weekly walk-in orientation that gives women an overview of our substance abuse treatment program and an opportunity to see who we are and what we are about. Potential clients will get a thorough overview of daily life, program components, therapies offered and what to expect during treatment.
This is also an opportunity to find out what is expected of clients during treatment as far as conduct, dress code, personal property, client rights and rules and the code of honor. In addition, cost of treatment and payment options will be discussed. Those who are interested will be scheduled for an assessment and a financial interview.
This is the foundation for treatment planning and is based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria (ASAM). This assessment process determines the appropriateness of treatment and level of care. Women who are not eligible for treatment at Wayside House substance abuse treatment program will be referred to another facility that can better serve them. These assessments are held Monday through Friday 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.
What To Expect On Your First Day
Daily life at drug rehab begins on day one of your journey at Wayside House. You will complete an intake process and be assigned a room. You will meet your fellow housemates and be familiarized with the house schedule and routine. Once you get settled in, you might participate in one of the ongoing groups or activities that are held daily at the program. Daily life at our drug rehab is filled with opportunities for discovery, reflection, growth, friendship and learning the necessary tools to stay on the path of recovery.
How Long Is Wayside’s Program?
Our residential program for drug addiction is 90 days in length. This period is split into two phases.
Phase 1: Consists of daily individual counseling, group sessions, and 12 step meetings. In addition, we offer a variety of holistic services including equine therapy, art therapy, yoga and meditation, and horticulture therapies.
Phase 2: Is reintegration into the community, with your daily life consisting of job searching during the day, therapy at night and continued attendance at twelve step meetings. There will be greater opportunity to expand your support group within the recovery community. This second phase is an opportunity to practice the skills and tools gained through the program to real-world life and situations. There may be stresses and difficult choices, but support and guidance from the Wayside House team will continue to provide support throughout this process.
Program Components And Facility Features
In addition to our residential treatment program, our other program components include:
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Goals will be set according to the treatment plan and may include areas such as relapse prevention, improved family and interpersonal communication skills, increased problem solving, coping skills self-esteem and treatment of co-occurring disorders.
The aftercare support group is held one evening weekly for eligible women who have completed the residential or intensive outpatient program.
