Children & Teen Programs
Children are the most vulnerable victims of addiction. They are at risk for substance abuse, violence, crime, school truancy and drop out. Prevention is the key.
The children's program is multifaceted to accommodate the different age groups and levels of need from birth to 18. Some sessions involve children only; other sessions include children and mothers. Children are separated into similar ages with respect to the maturity and growth level of each child. Age appropriate material and activities are used. Program goals are to educate children and teens about the disease of addiction and the effects of addiction on the entire family. Through peer support and group participation, they will learn to define and develop boundaries, set limits on behavior, express feelings and healthy family interactions, increase trust and that it's okay to ask for help.
Most of these groups coincide with an adult group so that both parent and child are participating in their own recovery at the same time.
